In London’s Fair City

In Uncategorized on March 3, 2013 at 11:42 am

I spend  more time than most dashing around London, from north to south and east to west – visiting locations, catching up with PRs and going to shows and exhibitions, but this week I got to appreciate our fair city in a new way by going to the viewing platform of The Shard. It is an extraordinary perspective of the capital and is a good way to get to grips with quite how bendy The Thames is. I tried to find the Olympic Village and took my bearings from the twin towers of the old Naval College in Greenwich, but was looking too far to the east, the large oval of the Olympic Stadium proved to be much further north behind the City, and the same happened when trying to track down Clapham Common, seen from The Shard it is more westwards than I thought.

I also caught up with the terrific Roy Lichtenstein Retrospective exhibition at Tate Modern, queuing with designer Henry Holland to buy our postcards and bumping in to Tim from my Yoga class, so a very sociable visit as well as visually stimulating. I loved the unexpected Chinese landscapes and felt that one sculpture in particular gave a visual interpretation of how I sometimes feel when bombarded by emails, text messages and phone calls.
